Situation
Our client, an Australian skincare business, was experiencing supply issues and cost pressures within their contract manufacturing of their cosmetic skincare brand. The Executive Chairman engaged us to conduct a review of their operations to understand how they could increase certainty of supply as well as stave off cost increases
Approach
We reviewed all operational factors including MOQ’s, the amount of stock the business had on hand, order lead times, freight rates and part of the product cost and the production requirements of all SKUs and found opportunity by both segmenting the production of products into either Cosmetic or Listed as well as running a running a rapid sourcing exercise on the supply of these products
Outcome
By segmenting the Cosmetic and Listed products, and sourcing a new supplier for both of these product types we were able to help deliver an outcome that increased supply consistency and also delivered a cost reduction of 12%
